Educating Children about Compassionate Choices featuring Ruby Roth, & Local Battery Hen Rescues

Local Battery Hen Rescues

In honour of International Respect for Chickens Month, we speak with Jane, a brave & compassionate BC resident who recently heeded the call to action and successfully coordinated two rescues of battery caged hens.

Check out these clips & pics of her hen rescue in December 2011!

Educating Children about Compassionate Choices featuring Ruby Roth

How can we teach our children about leading a compassionate lifestyle? Most would probably agree that graphic films like Meat Your Meat,
Farm to Fridge, and Earthlings aren’t appropriate for young eyes; when it comes to kids, it certainly takes a sensitive approach.

On today’s show we host a discussion with artist & writer Ruby Roth, author of two colourful books for children aged 4-10, That’s Why We Don’t Eat Animals, and her newest, Vegan is Love, which has sparked quite a controversy (CNN, Fox News, The Globe & Mail, Global News – just to name a few)! We’ll also have Christa Trueman, former co-host of Animal Voices and parent of two older children, in studio with us to discuss her experiences.
