The Association for the Protection of Fur-Bearing Animals
Lesley Fox is the Executive Director of The Association for the Protection of Fur-Bearing Animals (otherwise known as Fur-Bearer Defenders).
Since 1944, Fur-Bearer Defenders has been working to abolish the commercial fur trade through education, outreach, and bylaw development. They also work on wildlife protection and solutions to help us co-exist peacefully with urban wildlife. Lesley’s recent achievements include lobbying various municipalities to adopt anti-trapping bylaws and working with the BC Ministry of Education to have animal issues included in school curriculum.
We speak with her about Canada Goose’s Fur Policy, working to protect wildlife, and their current and ongoing campaigns.
Public Opinions on Fur
Alissa and Jackie hit the streets to ask the public their opinions on fur, and share some knowledge with them. Some of the questions include: Would you wear fur? Where do you think fur comes from? How do you think animals on fur farms live? How do you think animals are killed for fur? The answers may surprise you.
Below is a video by ‘The Discerning Brute” where he speaks with fur-wearers in a humorous, yet insightful, way.
At the top of today’s show, Jenni shares some of her experiences with animal rights in university. She also discusses an article of hers that was recently published and the response from her professor. Care for some Cereal and Rape for Breakfast?
