Gary Charbonneau, Vancouver Aquarium Uncovered, for Japan Dolphins Day
Local filmmaker and animal advocate, Gary Charbonneau (Vancouver Aquarium Uncovered) discusses the Vancouver Aquarium’s lawsuits against him and the Vancouver Park Board.
Helen performed at Enoshima Aquarium for 9 years before Vancouver purchased her. She also had no stranding numbers.
Hana also came from Enoshima where she lived for 2 years. She was the perfect candidate for release but Vancouver never even considered rehabilitating her under their own rehabilitation program. Instead, they listened to the Japanese government who said she wasn’t releasable. She was the only one to have stranding numbers.
Not one of these dolphins was rescued or rehabilitated from the aquarium. Hana did not meet the criteria for coming into Stanley Park, but the aquarium brought her and Helen in without Park Board Commissioners knowing. Tune in to find out more details about the background of these dolphins and their origins from Japan.
