Color Me Vegan Book Review (and contest draw!)

In this episode, Alison gives an info-packed review of Colleen Patrick-Goudreau’s book “Color Me Vegan“, a book that will “maximize your nutrient intake and optimize your health by eating antioxidant-rich, fiber-packed, color-intense meals that taste great”! We do an (almost) live taste test on the air of the following dishes from the book: Cashew Red Lentil Burgers, White Bean and Artichoke Salad, Kale Chips, and Raspberry Lemon Muffins. Let’s savour the food and see what the verdict is!

We also draw for our lucky contest winner – congratulations to Valerie Lee, who is the winner of a copy of “Color Me Vegan”!

Rev. Frank Hoffman, Christianity and Animal Rights

For our feature interview, we have Reverend Frank Hoffman on the show to speak to us about the broad and intriguing topic of how Christianity and Animal Rights fit together. Frank, along with his wife Mary, are the founders of The Mary T. and Frank L. Hoffman Family Foundation, which strives to promote through education the prevention of suffering and cruelty to any of God’s creatures, human or otherwise, including, but not limited to diet, health and living conditions. They are a Biblically-based organization, and believe that their call to mission is to restore God’s original creation intent of a plant-based diet.

Frank and Mary also run the website www.all-creatures.org , which furthers their mission by providing a plethora of all kinds of information regarding animal issues, religion, and veganism. You can find all kinds of info on this site such as many videos, articles, stories, poems, recipes and more. The resources on this site are practically infinite, so please take a look!

In our interview with Reverend Hoffman, we delve into all sorts of questions, including the issue of animal sacrifices of the bible, whether Jesus was a vegetarian or not, if Christians should be vegetarians, whether or not animals go to heaven, and more.

Here is a 26 minute video, produced by The Mary T. and Frank L. Hoffman Family Foundation, called “Honoring God’s Creation”, in which pastors, professors, physicians, and lay Christians discuss how their vegetarian diet is an important part of their Christian witness:

Sixth Commandment

Fitting in with the theme of this episode, we present the music video “Sixth Commandment”, which is composed and sung by Aryan Tavakkoli and arranged by Geoff Duncan. Warning: this video IS graphic, but shows what humans are doing to animals on a grand scale on a daily basis.
