We present to you The Vegan Athlete Show – Part II!

We begin this show with a review of Rich Roll’s book Finding Ultra. This is the story of one man’s life and his dramatic transformation from middle-aged couch potato to competitive Ultraman triathlete, upon adopting a vegan diet and lifestyle.

Then we discuss the issue of body shaming, fat positivity and veganism – a small glimpse of what we will delve into further in an upcoming show.

Rich Roll, Vegan Ultraman, on Athleticism and Veganism

Our feature interview is with vegan athlete Rich Roll. A graduate of Stanford University and Cornell Law School, Rich is a 45-year old, world-renowned vegan ultra-endurance athlete, wellness advocate, husband, father of four and inspiration to people worldwide as a transformative example of courageous and healthy living.

Transforming his life at age 40 from a typical sedentary lifestyle and Standard American Diet, he adopted a plant-based diet and reinvented himself as an ultra-distance endurance athlete. Just a few years later, Rich clocked top finishes at the Ultraman World Championships, a double ironman-distance triathlon totaling 320 miles and widely considered one of the most grueling endurance events on the planet, and then later he became one of the first of two people to complete the EPIC5 – 5 Ironmans on 5 Hawaiian Islands in under a week.

Rich’s plant-fueled feats of boundary-pushing athleticism have been featured on CNN as well as in many mainstream newspapers and magazines. In 2009, Men’s Fitness Magazine profiled Rich as one of the “25 Fittest Men in the World”. Rich Roll speaks with us about athleticism and what he calls the PlantPower Diet.

At noted above, Rich has recently written his memoir of transformation into one of the world’s fittest athletes, which he credits to his vegan diet, in the captivating book Finding Ultra. Here is the trailer for this book!
