Tereza Tomek, Earthsave Canada’s Taste of Health

Tereza Tomek, the co-ordinator of the Earthsave Canada Taste of Health vegetarian food festival in Vancouver, speaks to us all about this annual event, which happens all day this Saturday on October 23rd. Earthsave Canada is a non-profit organization that works towards promoting a plant-based diet for your health, the environment, and the animals, and attendees can once again expect lots of free food sampling, and workshops and presentations to experience. Tereza also speaks with us about the Earthsave Fundraising Gala happening that evening, which will be featuring music, food, and keynote speaker (and founder of EarthSave) John Robbins.

John Robbins, best-selling author and founder of EarthSave

Our feature interview is with John Robbins, most widely known for being the author of the international best-seller “Diet for a New America” and the founder of the non-profit organization EarthSave, which strives to educate the public on the connections between meat, dairy and eggs and the destruction to animals, our health and the environment. John Robbins is currently one of the most popular bloggers of the Huffington Post. He is also the author of six best-sellers in total that have collectively sold more than 3 million copies and been translated into 26 languages.

The only son of the founder of the Baskin-Robbins ice cream empire, John Robbins was groomed to follow in his father’s footsteps, but chose to walk away from Baskin-Robbins and the immense wealth it represented to “pursue the deeper American Dream…the dream of a society at peace with its conscience because it respects and lives in harmony with all life forms.”

As an advocate for a compassionate and healthy way of life, John is the recipient of the Rachel Carson Award, the Albert Schweitzer Humanitarian Award, the Peace Abbey’s Courage of Conscience Award, and the Green America’s Lifetime Achievement Award.

John’s newest book is “The New Good Life: Living Better Than Ever in an Age of Less”, and provides a “philosophical and prescriptive path from conspicuous consumption to conscious consumption” – and most certainly where animals are involved. He speaks to us about some of the ideals from the book, as well as various topics ranging from animal industry brand marketing, to being raised in a dairy industry family, to some of his favourite plant-based foods, to how he got Julia Child to stop eating veal!

In this short video, John discusses whether it is wrong to eat animals.
