Chimpanzees: An Unnatural History - 60 minutes
At one time in the not-too-distant past, humans
were in the cross-hairs of science. Indigents, orphans, criminals, the
mentally ill, ethnic minorities, soldiers, and others have been the
subject of scientific experiments. They too were “like us,” but deemed
not enough “like us” to receive ethical and legal protection. The
history of chimps in our society is a history unlike any other. While
we are mesmerized by their likeness to our species and we have
continually found uses for chimps, we have rarely considered what they
wanted or needed, and have been often misled by this likeness to apply
the results of experiments on them to ourselves, with dire
consequences.

Greenpeace: "Making a Stand" - 48 Minutes

This compelling documentary looks at the 35 year evolution of
Greenpeace from the early days of the environmental movement in the
1970s, to the front lines of a potentially dangerous campaign in
Argentina. Introduced by Greenpeace founder and editor of Shared-Vision Magazine,
Rex Weyler.

Non-Violence includes Animals -
27 minutes
by PETA President Ingrid E. Newkirk, introduction by Dennis Kucinich
PETA President Ingrid E. Newkirk's address to the International
Nonviolence Conference in Bethlehem asks us to open our minds to the
idea that the way we treat animals is a reflection of who we are as
individuals and as a society. Are we able to grasp the most basic
problems facing us as we attempt to resolve conflict? Facing our lack
of empathy toward others who are not like us is an interesting exercise
that requires us to confront our most ingrained prejudices—even as we
challenge others to confront theirs.
