Emma Smith, Zimt Chocolates vegan chocolatier
For our first interview, we have local vegan chocolatier Emma Smith on the show to talk about all things sweet and chocolatey! Emma is the founder of our local vegan, organic, and fair-trade company called Zimt Chocolates. You can find Zimt sold at most stores in Vancouver that carry plant-based chocolate, and also, now at the new Zimt Chocolates shop, located at 1336 Clark Drive in Vancouver.
Emma makes chocolate that is good for the planet, good for the animals, and good for your health, and she is here on the show today to delve us into the world of vegan, ethical chocolate, and how we can be more conscious consumers in our food choices when it comes to decadent treats.
Celebrating Heart Month with leading cardiologist Dr. Joel Kahn, M.D.
For our feature interview today, for Heart Day and Heart Month, we speak with America’s Healthy Heart Doc, Dr. Joel Kahn. Dr. Kahn is one of the world’s top cardiologists and has treated thousands of acute heart attacks during his career. But he believes that plant-based nutrition is the most powerful source of preventative medicine on the planet, and as a 40 year plus vegan himself, he now uses non-traditional diagnostic tools, prevention tactics and nutrition-based recovery protocols at the Kahn Longevity Center.
Dr. Kahn passionately lectures throughout the U.S. about the health benefits of a plant-based, anti-aging diet, inspiring a new generation of thought leaders to think scientifically and critically about the body’s ability to heal itself through proper nutrition. Dr. Kahn is on today’s show to speak to us about the power of plants to prevent and reverse heart disease and how to be empowered by positive lifestyle choices when it comes to taking charge of your health.
Four months ago, Dr. Kahn made a now famous 4 hour appearance on the popular Joe Rogan podcast, debating vegan nutrition with author Chris Kresser. You can see an hour of that debate on YouTube here:
